Jordan Koster

Ph.D. Student, Political Science Department

Bio

Jordan Koster is a political science Ph.D. student at the Maxwell School. Her research interests include public opinion on and belief in climate change, policymaking processes on climate at various levels of government, and climate policy/program implementation (or the lack thereof). Through her research, her goal is to support and uplift climate action, especially in historically marginalized and overburdened/under resourced communities.

Prior to joining the department, Jordan worked for the governor of New York and the New York secretary of state as a climate adaptation, resilience, and Smart Growth expert at the New York Department of State, where her responsibilities included designing and implementing climate policies and programs, managing joint research projects with academic institutions across the Northeast, authoring budget proposals and Federal funding applications, and representing the interests of New Yorkers on multiple statewide and regional workgroups.

Jordan is a class of 2021-2023 New York State Excelsior Fellow. She holds a M.S. in public policy from NYU and a B.A. in biology and political science from Syracuse University. In her free time, Jordan enjoys exploring and sharing her passion for her native Upstate New York, reading science fiction novels, and spending time with her dogs.
