Modern Strangers, Pious Burials: Strangerhood, Religion, and Archaeological Knowledge 

Bio

Tony is an historical anthropologist who draws upon methods and theories from historical anthropology, bioarchaeology and biocultural anthropology. His dissertation examines tensions of estrangement and belonging, religion and archaeology's politics of knowledge, through integrating gross skeletal, isotopic and archival evidence.

Tony has been involved in projects in North America, South America and the Middle East. He has presented his research in multiple venues and have published an article in the journal Historical Archaeology.

Topics of interest include the body, estrangement/belonging, diaspora, modernity, imperialism, colonialism, ethnoreligious sectarianism, political violence and the politics of knowledge.
