Bio

Xiaoxia Huang is a Ph.D. candidate in the Political Science Department at Syracuse University. Her research focuses on gender and bureaucracy in East Asia, with a particular emphasis on China. In her dissertation, she investigates gender representation in the Chinese civil service and the resulting backlash using original datasets.

Her other ongoing projects explore topics such as gender quotas and representation in Chinese leadership positions, the allocation of public sector jobs in China, and local elections in Japan. Xiaoxia's website
