Bio

Joanne Kim is a Ph.D. student in public administration at Syracuse University. Her research interests revolve around examining ways in which government and the public sector can effectively address poverty and inequality issues. Specifically, she is interested in exploring whether a more integrated approach and collaborative forms of governance can help produce effective outcomes, while achieving equitable and inclusive processes and outcomes. 

Prior to her academic journey, Joanne worked as a research and policy analyst at Economic Innovation Group, specializing in spatial inequality and persistent poverty. She also worked at Brookings Metro, where she conducted research on how public, private and civic sector investments can help tackle disparities and revitalize local economy, particularly in underinvested neighborhoods.

Joanne holds a bachelor's degree in economics from UC Berkeley and a master of public policy from Georgetown University.
