Mirjahon Turdiyev comes to the Social Science Ph.D. Program with extensive professional experience of social justice and human rights for persons with disabilities in Uzbekistan and other nations.  He has held leadership and consultancy roles at the United Nations, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the U.S. Agency for International Development and a number of global NGOs in Uzbekistan.  He is the President of the Central Asia and Caucasus Student Union and was recognized in 2020 with the La Fuerza Community Enhancement Award for his contributions to the promotion of diversity and inclusion at Syracuse University.
