Phillip Burke ’07 B.A. (Soc)
was a top 13 finalist out of 850 submissions for his play, “He’s the First,” in the Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Short Play Festival. Based in New York City, the festival promotes emerging directors, performers and producers. He also earned a B.F.A. from the College of Visual and Performing Arts in 2007 and is an inaugural fellow with The Latinx Playwrights Circle Summer Jam Fellowship.

has co-authored the book “Disrupting D.C.: The Rise of Uber and the Fall of the City,” with Katie Wells ’08 M.A. (Geog)/’13 Ph.D. (Geog) and Declan Cullen ’13 Ph.D. (Geog). The book is an analysis of the deep social divisions and urban politics that gave rise to the gig economy in the U.S.

Joseph Gale ’17 M.A. (IR)
serves as the assistant defense attaché at the U.S. embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He held the same position in La Paz, Bolivia. He has worked for the U.S. Department of Defense since 2017.
Katalin Fábián ’93 M.A. (PSc)/ ’99 Ph.D. (PSc)
received the 2022 Heldt Prize for best book in Slavic, East European and Eurasian Women’s Studies for a book she co-edited, “Routledge Handbook of Gender in Central-Eastern Europe and Eurasia” (Routledge, 2021). Fábián is professor of government and law at Lafayette College.

has joined the Rochester, N.Y., office of the law firm Bond, Schoeneck & King as of counsel. Her work concentrates on athletics regulation, specifically gender equity and Title IX.
Natalie Teale ’13 B.A. (Geog)
is assistant professor in the Department of Geography at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Her research focuses on physical geography, hydro-climatology and precipitation patterns at various scales.
Stephen McClellan ’64 B.A. (Econ)
has written his third book, an autobiography titled “True to Myself” (Park Place Publications, 2022). He retired from Merrill Lynch in 2003 after a 32-year career in finance.

accepted a position as director of the Outreach and Business Development Division of the U.S. Department of Energy. He focuses on outreach to clean energy technology innovators and entrepreneurs.
Julie Madlin ’88 B.A. (Hist)
has retired after 31 years as a middle school social studies teacher at Heuvelton Central School in Heuvelton, N.Y. She continues to work as a municipal historian for the city of Ogdensburg, N.Y., and as the director of the Ogdensburg History Museum.

has been named the Robert E. and Susan T. Rydell Professor at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. In this role, he will serve as a distinguished scholar on campus, meet with students and provide a public lecture.

is the senior policy advisor in the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The office regulates pesticide use and determines maximum levels for pesticide residue in food.
Sam Giber ’13 B.A. (Econ)
was promoted to general partner at Blisce, a private equity firm based in Paris and New York City that invests in consumer brands and global technology companies. He serves on the boards of Headspace Health, Redesign Health, Candid Co. and Dice and on the board of the Epic Foundation, a global venture philanthropy nonprofit.

Roland Van Deusen ’67 B.A. (Soc)
had his article on reducing veteran suicides accepted by the research department of Syracuse University’s National Veteran Resource Center. The article was originally published in the Summer 2019 issue of Combat Stress magazine. Van Deusen runs a veteran support group in Clayton, N.Y., where he lives with his wife Nancy de Thomas Van Deusen '69 B.A. (Soc). He played a part in the successful effort to have the NFL test helmet add-ons, which helped reduce in-game concussions.
