Dr. Alice Rivlin-“The Fiscal Challenge: Can We Grow the Economy and Control the
Debt?” [Please see Dr. Rivlin’s Bio below]. Lunch will be provided.
1:30pm-3:00pm Breakout sessions/informational interviews Dr. Alice Rivlin will
be offering the keynote address at the DC Networking Trip’s student and alumni
luncheon at the National Press Club on Saturday, February 12th. She is a Senior
Fellow of economic studies and Director of the Greater Washington Research
project at the Brookings Institute. Most recently, Dr. Rivlin served on
President Obama’s National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform and
co-chaired the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Debt Reduction Task Force. She has
had a long and accomplished career in public service and is an expert on fiscal
and social policy and urban issues. She was the founding director of the
Congressional Budget Office, later directed the Office of Management and
Budget, and served as vice-chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal
Reserve Board. She is credited with saving DC from bankruptcy in 1998 when the
city was $700 million in debt. She is an absolute rock star in the world of
public policy and we are very lucky that she has agreed to join us…and we hope
you will too!

To mark our centennial in the fall of 2024, the Maxwell School will hold special events and engagement opportunities to celebrate the many ways—across disciplines and borders—our community ever strives to, as the Oath says, “transmit this city not only not less, but greater, better and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.”
