This week's Spanish Table will be led by Abbey Steele, Assistant Professor of Public Administration & International Affairs. Prof. Steele will be sharing her research experience in Columbia.
The Maxwell School is hosting a distinguished visitor, Dr. Rafael Fernández de Castro for the day. Dr. de Castro will be attending this special meeting of the Spanish Table as a guest, and has accepted our invitation to stay on after the Spanish Table to meet with students from the Maxwell School. Everyone is invited to attend one or both events. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to interact with this distinguished scholar.
Rafael Fernández de Castro
Chair of the Department of International Studies at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). He earned a BA in Social Sciences at ITAM, a Master’s in Public Policy at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, University of Texas at Austin, and a PhD in Political Science from Georgetown University. Fernández de Castro is an expert on the bilateral relationship between Mexico and the United States, as well as on Mexican foreign policy. He has published numerous articles and co-authored and co-edited several books, including Contemporary U.S.-Latin American Relations: Cooperation or Conflict in the 21st Century? (2010), United States and Mexico: Between Partnership and Conflict with Jorge Domínguez (published also in Spanish), The Controversial Pivot: The U.S. Congress and North America with Robert Pastor (published also in Spanish) and Anuario México en el Mundo: Los desafíos para México en 2001; Cambio y continuidad en la política exterior de México (2002), En la frontera del Imperio (2003) and La agenda internacional de México 2006-2012 (2006).
