Conversation on Academic Spaces and Dissent

In light of recent and ongoing national and international protests against state-supported breach of civil liberties on university campuses in India, please join us in solidarity with concerned students and faculty in talking about dissent within academic spaces across different nation-state contexts. We will begin the conversation contextualizing recent student agitations in India and the US, while recognizing differences and scales of state power. We will then move towards sharing our experiences of witnessing, expressing or confronting dissent within the academy, as well as strategies of coping borne out of these experiences. Moving forward, we hope to be able to build on this conversation to connect with concerned others on campuses and in other educational spaces in India, the US, and elsewhere.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Open to the public.

We’re Turning 100!

To mark our centennial in the fall of 2024, the Maxwell School will hold special events and engagement opportunities to celebrate the many ways—across disciplines and borders—our community ever strives to, as the Oath says, “transmit this city not only not less, but greater, better and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.”

Throughout the year leading up to the centennial, engagement opportunities will be held for our diverse, highly accomplished community that now boasts more than 38,500 alumni across the globe.
