South Asia Book Award for Children’s and Young Adult Literature presents

Meet the Winners Discussion Series

Join us to celebrate the 2020 South Asia Book Award winners! Through a series of virtual discussions, we will get to know these authors, their award-winning titles, and how these books can be used to learn about and teach about South Asia in our schools, libraries, and homes.

This discussion features Meenal Patel, who won the 2020 SABA Book Award for her picture book Priya Dreams of Marigolds and Masala (Beaver’s Pond Press, 2019). This book explores our connections with people and places. Priya asks her beloved Babi Ba, “What is India like?” as they stand side-by-side preparing the evening meal. Babi Ba tells Priya of her India – the sights, sounds, and smells. And, Priya, in return, discovers how to bring India to her Babi Ba.

Meenal Patel is an illustrator, children’s book author, and color-lover.

We’re Turning 100!

To mark our centennial in the fall of 2024, the Maxwell School will hold special events and engagement opportunities to celebrate the many ways—across disciplines and borders—our community ever strives to, as the Oath says, “transmit this city not only not less, but greater, better and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.”

Throughout the year leading up to the centennial, engagement opportunities will be held for our diverse, highly accomplished community that now boasts more than 38,500 alumni across the globe.
