Race and Policy Talks – Preemption: the "weaponization of state legislatures.”

Eggers Hall, 225B

Add to: Outlook, ICal, Google Calendar

Please join us for the fourth Race and Policy Talk of the series. While local governments can play an important role in fostering progressive policies, they are often subject to state-level preemption policies, which dilute change and prohibit steps towards equality.

Join Professor Douglas Wolf as he discusses the role that preemption plays in entrenching racial disparities in a variety of public policies.

There is no registration required, all are welcome to attend. This session will not be recorded or streamed. If you need accommodations, please email the department (paia@syr.edu) 24 hours in advance with your accommodation and we will respond to your request.

We’re Turning 100!

To mark our centennial in the fall of 2024, the Maxwell School will hold special events and engagement opportunities to celebrate the many ways—across disciplines and borders—our community ever strives to, as the Oath says, “transmit this city not only not less, but greater, better and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.”

Throughout the year leading up to the centennial, engagement opportunities will be held for our diverse, highly accomplished community that now boasts more than 38,500 alumni across the globe.
