Join the American Academy of Political and Social Science (AAPSS) for a virtual discussion.
New York Times reporter Jason DeParle will moderate the discussion and the panel includes:
Lindsey Bullinger, Georgia Tech
Jessica Drescher, Stanford University
Colleen Heflin, Syracuse University
Shannon Monnat, Syracuse University
Jessica Pac, University of Wisconsin-Madison
These panelists contributed to the most recent volume of the AAPSS journal, The ANNALS. Their discussion will focus on their work in the volume, which uses data from local, state and federal sources to investigate how opioid use disorder impacts the effectiveness of our education system, strains social services including child welfare agencies, and creates fiscal burdens across social welfare infrastructure. The event will also feature audience Q&A.
I hope you’re able to join. Can’t join us live? Be sure to register and you’ll receive the recording.

We’re Turning 100!
To mark our centennial in the fall of 2024, the Maxwell School will hold special events and engagement opportunities to celebrate the many ways—across disciplines and borders—our community ever strives to, as the Oath says, “transmit this city not only not less, but greater, better and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.”
Throughout the year leading up to the centennial, engagement opportunities will be held for our diverse, highly accomplished community that now boasts more than 38,500 alumni across the globe.
