The Moynihan Institutes newest series, Practice of Global Politics, presents Matthew Duss the executive vice president at the Center for International Policy.
Washington's old foreign policy consensus is breaking up and a new one is struggling to be born. What values should shape America's global role in this era?
From 2017-22, Duss was foreign policy advisor to Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt); from 2014-17, Duss was the president of the Foundation for Middle East Peace; and from 2008-14 Duss was a national security and international policy analyst at the Center for American Progress.
Duss’s work has been widely published, including in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Foreign Affairs, The Nation, The American Prospect, and Foreign Policy.
Duss has an M.A. in international studies from the University of Washington’s Henry M. Jackson School, and a B.A. in political science from the University of Washington.

We’re Turning 100!
To mark our centennial in the fall of 2024, the Maxwell School will hold special events and engagement opportunities to celebrate the many ways—across disciplines and borders—our community ever strives to, as the Oath says, “transmit this city not only not less, but greater, better and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.”
Throughout the year leading up to the centennial, engagement opportunities will be held for our diverse, highly accomplished community that now boasts more than 38,500 alumni across the globe.
