Dave Donaldson (Professor of Economics at MIT and Winner of the 2017 John Bates Clark Medal) - TDPE
341 Eggers Hall
How much of the distribution of economic activity today is determined by history rather than by geographic fundamentals? And if history matters, does it matter much? The authors develop an empirical framework that enables answers to these questions. Bio: Dave Donaldson (Professor of Economics at MIT) is the winner of the 2017 John Bates Clark Medal, given by the American Economic Association to the US-based economist under the age of forty who is judged to have made the most significant contribution to economic thought and knowledge. Professor Donaldson’s research lies at the intersection of International/Intranational Trade, Development Economics, Economic History and Environmental Economics. We’re Turning 100!
To mark our centennial in the fall of 2024, the Maxwell School will hold special events and engagement opportunities to celebrate the many ways—across disciplines and borders—our community ever strives to, as the Oath says, “transmit this city not only not less, but greater, better and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.”
Throughout the year leading up to the centennial, engagement opportunities will be held for our diverse, highly accomplished community that now boasts more than 38,500 alumni across the globe.
