The armed robbery of Juli Boeheim in a Destiny USA parking lot last week is the product of many factors at the mall, according to Andrew Cohen, Dr. Walter Montgomery and Marian Gruber Professor of History, who called the incident a "crime of opportunity."

“Armed robberies tend to occur in poorly lit places where people are walking, where there isn’t much foot traffic, where there aren’t a lot of police patrols, and actually Destiny USA’s parking lots are a very good example of that," says Cohen.
