William Banks, professor emeritus of public administration and international affairs, joined CBS News to discuss the legal implications of House select committee hearings on the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
"I personally think it's unlikely that President Trump is going to face legal consequences in the criminal courts as a result of his actions leading up to and including Jan. 6. He's got other legal vulnerabilities as we all know," says Banks.
"But it's more important for our democracy and our society to establish that a terrible wrongdoing was done to the country on that day and in the planning that occurred prior to Jan. 6," he says.
