Some acrimony is typical, particularly in an election year, when politicians will use "tactical or strategic incivility" to attract attention or publicity, explains Keith Bybee, professor of political science. "The bigger concern is whether there's some kind of deeper problem here and whether we are, as the poll phrases the question, at the threshold of civil war," he says. Bybee was interviewed for the CNY Central article "The 2020 election could solidify a new standard of political incivility." 10/25/19
