Eleven Executive Education students from seven countries celebrated their December completion of Maxwell graduate degrees or certificate programs. The graduates are midcareer professionals who shared their international perspectives, learned from each other and Maxwell faculty, eager to return to their native countries to implement new skills.

Three students earned Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) degrees and six earned Certificates of Advanced Study in Public Administration. Two students earned Executive Master of International Relations (EMIR) degrees and one student earned a Certificate of Advanced Study in Leadership of International and Non-Governmental Organizations. They celebrated graduation with a Dec. 4 luncheon. 

“They’ll return to their countries and organizations, energized to make the world a better place, knowing that the resources and connections they cultivated at Maxwell will remain,” said Margaret Lane, Executive Education’s assistant director. “We can’t wait to see what they’ll accomplish.”

Euphemia Brewer Fasama, who earned an EMIR degree, previously worked as special assistant to the president of Liberia, developing policies and programs to support youths and socially disadvantaged groups. Fifteen years after earning a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Liberia, she came to Maxwell “with mixed feelings of anxiety and great expectations.”

She wasn’t disappointed. “The program design and delivery were extremely helpful in meeting my expectations,” she said. She praised Maxwell professors’ expertise. “They are keen on ensuring students learn in a comfortable and engaging manner.”

Brewer Fasama plans to apply new skills and knowledge to improve social policy in Liberia. “I have a toolbox of knowledge in leadership, policy analysis, international relations, and citizenship and governance to apply in my next chapter,” she said. “These tools will enable me to apply my skills to work with populations that need our services. I intend to use it wisely.”

She’ll remember the supportive community of Exec Ed staff and students. “My time at Maxwell will always be remembered as life changing, engaging, and fun,” she said
