Engelhardt Provides Expertise in CNN Article on Trump’s False Claims During the Debate

Both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump made false and misleading claims during CNN’s presidential debate last week. Trump did so far more than Biden, making more that 30 false claims at the Thursday debate, while Biden made at least nine. 

Trump said at least twice during the debate that Biden will destroy Social Security and Medicare by putting migrants entering the U.S. on the benefits.

But according to Gary Engelhardt, professor of economics, “Immigrants tend to be younger and employed, which increases the number of workers paying into the system. Also, they have more children, which helps boost the future workforce that will pay payroll taxes.”

“Immigrants are good for Social Security,” Engelhardt says.
