"Delta Democracy: Pathways to Incremental Civic Revolution in Egypt Beyond" (Oxford University Press, 2020), written by Associate Professor of Public Administration and International Affairs Catherine Herrold, was reviewed in Voluntas: International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations.

"She is informed by a political economy approach in analyzing and describing the sector as it negotiates a corporatist, clientelist and crony capitalist system. Her book is rich in detail and analysis of Egyptian NGOs (including GONGOs) and foundations (corporate, family and community), state legal and regulatory instruments overseen by the Ministry of Social Security (MOSS), as well as the club of foreign democracy promotion agencies. Overall, it is strong and persuasive," according to the review.
