On Friday, President Trump and China confirmed that they had reached an initial trade deal, helping defuse tensions in a 19-month trade war and avoiding another round of punishing tariffs scheduled for the weekend. "A ceasefire now raises the likelihood that the two sides can find lasting solutions to the problems identified in the US investigation of China's unfair practices related to technology transfer, intellectual property and innovation," writes Professor Mary Lovely. Her article "A trade war ceasefire is just what America's economy needs," was published in CNN Business Perspectives. Lovely also spoke with many major news outlets regarding the trade deal.
