Amy Lutz, associate professor of sociology, contributed the article "Immigrants have always belonged in the U.S. Military" in the Huffington Post. Of the recent news that the U.S. Army will for the time being stop enlisting legal permanent residents in the Army Reserve and National Guard, Lutz writes, "The United States has a long tradition of enlisting immigrants. Immigrants make up an important part of the U.S. military, and have since the formation of the United States. Our country should not make it difficult for them to serve." 10/27/17
