"Dictatorships, with few exceptions, tend to come with an expiration date, and that of Venezuela's Nicolás Maduro is no exception," writes Gladys McCormick, associate professor of history and the Jay and Debe Moskowitz Endowed Chair in Mexico-U.S. Relations. Her article "What the U.S. Can Do to Help Venezuela" was published in U.S. News & World Report. She goes on to say, "If history has given us any lesson, it is that the U.S. government should step aside and let the Venezuelan people — with the assistance of multilateral organizations — guide this much-needed opening for democratic change forward." 

McCormick was also interviewed for the USA Today article "How is President Donald Trump's State of the Union playing overseas? It's not even playing." She weighs in on President Trump's comments about Venezuela in his State of the Union speech.
