A secretive lab under the state-owned China Electronics Technology Group Corporation has conducted simulations on how U.S. warships could be attacked using space weapons and hypersonic missiles and published a research paper about it, according to the South China Morning Post.
Sean McFate, adjunct professor in Maxwell's Washington programs, spoke with Fox News about the simulated war game. "It's possible they just did this to simply freak out the American people and the U.S. Navy," he says. "China spends a great deal of time saber rattling. And they saber rattle to basically churn up U.S. attention and anxiety and to cause stress in the U.S. military system," says McFate.
