Chinenye Monde-Anumihe ’13 BA (IR) was recently featured in Guardian Woman, in a Q&A highlighting her efforts to bring international relations and human rights work together with business and development.

Throughout the article, Monde-Anumihe speaks about the importance of advancing women’s rights and fighting against patriarchal ideologies. She focused especially on the need to increase women’s access to education across Nigeria so that women are more empowered to make decisions and help lead the country moving forward.

Currently the head of partnerships and fundraising for SHAPE Africa 2020’s Project Management Committee, Monde-Anumihe advocates for expanding public-private partnerships so as to help address challenges facing Africa today. Her efforts with underserved and marginalized communities in Nigeria include working to end the stigmatization of menstruation and helping to build financial and digital literacy. Monde-Anumihe is also the co-founder of Survivors Voice International, a foundation supporting cancer survivors, those still battling cancer, and those close to them. 

Before moving to Lagos, Monde-Anumihe spent time working for the United Nations Institute for Training and Research in Geneva. She was also a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community. In her current work, Monde-Anumihe continues to advocate for UN Sustainable Development Goal 17, which promotes advancing sustainable development through partnerships between government, private sector, and civil society actors. Alongside her bachelor’s degree from Maxwell, Monde-Anumihe holds an LLM in international law and legal studies from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights.
