Fifteen rising top NGO leaders are on campus this week to take part in the annual Leadership Institute, offered by the Moynihan Institute’s Transnational NGO Initiative.

The program is designed to provide leadership training to rising senior level NGO leaders, in ways that will assist their “leap” into top leadership posts. The leaders represent a range of organizations. Some are large, well-known NGOs, such as Save the Children, Amnesty International, Childfund International, and the Indian Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement. But also represented are smaller foundations and NGOs that spur social innovation  — such as, from China, the Sany Foundation, a corporate foundation incubating social entrepreneurship; and a Chinese psychologist and teacher working to establish mental health services for teens and college students.

Attendees receive state-of-the-art knowledge about NGO leadership as strategic behavior, leadership traits analysis, collaborative leadership skills, leadership of organizational change, strategy and performance measurement, and team building.. The program allows participants to examine their personal leadership style, expand specific competencies and roles, network with peers and experts, and benefit from practical applications tailored to their needs.

The TNGO Leadership Institute, which was inaugurated in 2011, is a collaborative effort of the Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs and Maxwell’s Executive Education Programs. This year’s is the sixth edition of the institute.
