Ultima Thule sits on the edge of the Solar System. It’s the furthest object of which scientists have been able to capture an image, and they think studying it might reveal details about the earliest moments of the universe, due to its position inside the Kuiper Belt. The image arrived on January 1, 2019 via the New Horizons probe. According to Sean O'Keefe, University Professor and Howard G. and S. Louise Phanstiel Chair in Strategic Management and Leadership, "This is something that exceeds the expectations in many ways, and gives us an insight — a very close up and personal kind of insight — of understanding what's in our own neighborhood, our own solar system."
