The Qualitative Data Repository (QDR) has been certified by CoreTrustSeal as a “trusted data repository.” Certification requires rigorous peer review of compliance with best practices in 16 key areas, including organizational infrastructure, continuity of access, preservation, and security. The Core Trust Seal is the most widely recognized certification for data repositories. There are fewer than 150 certified repositories in the world, and only about 35 in the United States; among those only five are dedicated to archiving social science data. Achieving this certification thus represents a major milestone in QDR's development.

In addition, QDR has been added to the authoritative list of recommended repositories managed by Scientific Data, a Nature Research journal. Inclusion on the Scientific Data list signifies that QDR meets demanding data access, preservation and stability requirements. The list recommends repositories in which scholars publishing in any of the more than 3,000 journals published by Springer Nature should archive their data.

The Qualitative Data Repository (QDR) is a domain repository dedicated to preserving and publishing digital data derived from qualitative and multi-method research in the social sciences. QDR is hosted by the Moynihan Institute at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, and co-directed by Colin Elman (Syracuse University) and Diana Kapiszewski (Georgetown University).
