Grant Reeher, professor of political science, joined Fox's LiveNOW to discuss the latest on the presidential election.
“In recent decades the country has gotten incredibly polarized politically. Both candidates have 43% in the bank no matter what. I think what the last week is about—it's not about persuasion, we're done with that—it's about mobilization, it's about turnout. The election is going to turn on turnout. And so the question is, how heavily will African Americans turnout, will they turn out for Harris the way they did for Obama. Same question for Evangelicals. Big question mark with Latino voters. I think it's going to be a turnout election and those are hard to predict,” Reeher says.
He was also quoted in the Newsweek article, “How Kamala Harris Could Win Election Despite Losing Pennsylvania.” A Harris win without Pennsylvania “would be hard but doable,” says Reeher. It would be unlikely for Harris to lose Pennsylvania but carry Nevada, Arizona and North Carolina, he says, adding, “Stranger things have happened.”
Reeher spoke with EFE about the issue of gun regulation for Kamala Harris. “Democrats are concerned that if they emphasize greater gun regulation they could lose some of the votes from the center they need to win,” he says.
