Reeher Interviewed for CNBC Piece on Why More Americans Are Buying AR-15 Guns

The AR-15 is one of the most controversial weapons in the U.S. and its popularity has soared in recent years. But the weapons have been involved in a number of mass shootings, including at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, earlier this year that killed 19 children and 2 teachers.
The AR-15 and other similar semiautomatic weapons were banned in 1994 by President Bill Clinton. The ban expired in 2004.
Grant Reeher, professor of political science and director of the Campbell Public Affairs Institute, says there's a "cache about this rifle that has come about because of the controversies surrounding it. Just like anything else that is forbidden there is going to be for some people an immediate attraction in that."

Reeher was also quoted in the NewsNation article, "Gun sales spike in wake of mass shootings."
