Recent polling suggests that Vice President Kamala Harris is winning over white voters from former President Donald Trump. The latest NPR/PBS News/Marist poll found that while the Democratic nominee's biggest boost has come from Black voters, she has also improved with white voters overall.
Grant Reeher, professor of political science professor, says some of it “is probably being driven by the enthusiasm among the white left voters for her candidacy.”
Reeher says it is “also due to the general enthusiasm for her campaign, and some of this is probably due to the obvious enthusiasm that the media is showing for her run. The Trump campaign's missteps in focusing on Harris' personal character and belittling her campaign are also helping the Democrats.”

Reeher was also quoted in the Spectrum News article, “Crimes, vandalism could mean more during election season.”
“I think it's a sign of the health of the democratic process. I think it's a sign of the amount of tolerance for different points of view and a particular community,” Reeher says. “And I think it's really important that people feel, first of all, able to put the sign up, but second of all, able to put it up again or fix it if someone has come along and defaced it.”
