"The fundamental idea of making school lunch free for all students makes a lot of sense," Schwartz and Rothbart say. "A robust body of evidence points to positive effects of free lunch for all on a range of student outcomes, including test scores, nutrition, and disciplinary suspensions, with no persuasive evidence of negative unintended consequences for students or school budgets."
