Siddiki, Baynes Honored for Excellence in Graduate Education

Saba Siddiki, associate professor of public administration and international affairs and Chapple Family Professor of Citizenship and Democracy, and Kenneth Baynes, professor of political science by courtesy appointment and senior research associate in the Campbell Public Affairs Institute, were among the nine faculty members who received 2024 Syracuse University Graduate School Excellence in Graduate Education Faculty Recognition Awards.
The student-driven award acknowledges faculty who have had a significant impact and positive influence on graduate education because of their superior graduate-level teaching, dedication to departmental and community presence and excellence in research and creative activities.
Siddiki is the director of the Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) program and the Center for Policy Design and Governance. She is also a senior research associate for the Center for Policy Research, Center for Environmental Policy and Administration, Program for the Advancement of Research on Conflict and Collaboration and the Autonomous Systems Policy Institute. She focuses on policy design, collaborative policymaking, institutional theory and analysis, and regulatory implementation and compliance.
Baynes studies social and political philosophy, critical theory, and modern and contemporary German philosophy. He is currently examining the characteristics of rules and practices, the grounding of moral principles within practical reason, and the relationship between democracy and basic rights.
