Taylor Speaks with La Presse About the War in Ukraine, Russia’s Persistence

It's been one year since Russia launched its attack against Ukraine and despite ceding ground, Russian forces continue to regularly attack, targeting parks, educational institutions and residential communities.
The concentration of troops in the east of the country shows that the Russian president has not given up on his goal of taking Ukraine over despite multiple setbacks since the launch of the invasion, says Brian Taylor, professor of political science.
"All his chips are on the table. From his point of view, this is an existential issue for his regime even if there is no indication that his grip on power is threatened in any way," Taylor notes.
