Jennifer Kuk and Renata Miskell were among those recognized for their innovative approaches to government operations.
Maxwell School alumni Jennifer Kuk ’03 M.P.A. and Renata Miskell ’10 M.P.A. have been named to GovExec’s 2024 Federal 100 list. The award recognizes 100 public sector leaders who have pushed government operations forward through innovative tech approaches. Coordinated by GovExec’s magazine, Nextgov/FCW, the awards were presented during GovExec’s annual Evening of Honors Gala at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., in April 2024.
As an information technology category management specialist at the Office of Management and Budget, Kuk supports the government-wide IT category management activities for nearly $78 billion in IT spending with the goals of improving coordination across federal agencies, streamlining the IT acquisition process, and achieving significant efficiencies and cost savings, according to the Office of Federal Procurement Policy. The award recognizes her devotion to fostering open dialogue between agency leadership and industry experts with the goal of making buying and selling IT products and services to the federal government easier and more cost effective. Her work has contributed to over $18 billion in cost avoidance in federal IT spend over the past five years.
As a deputy assistant secretary for the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Miskell promotes integrity, transparency and innovation in federal financial management. The award credits her for advancing the use of data and technology to prevent fraud in federal payments. Prior to joining the Treasury Department, Miskell served as the chief data and analytics officer for the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General.
A third member of the Maxwell community was also honored with the award: Chris Mihm, adjunct professor of public administration and international affairs, is managing director for strategic issues in the U.S. Government Accountability Office, a fellow and former chair of the board of directors at the National Academy of Public Administration, and a member of the Independent Expert Oversight Advisory Committee for the World Health Organization.
