"I think the tone of things would shift quickly if Biden were elected," Professor of Political Science Grant Reeher says. He adds that there would be "more pushback" if Biden and Democrats actually pushed adding seats to the Supreme Court forward.

Mary Lovely, professor of economics, says that the protests in Hong Kong haven't affected the U.S.-China trade talks as these are longstanding negotiations. "I think it does change the atmosphere for American businesses and the American public, as well as Chinese businesses and the Chinese public," she says.

Denuclearization will likely be at the center of the meeting later this month between President Donald Trump and North Korea leader Kim Jong Un, says Robert Murrett, professor of practice of public administration and international affairs. “Trade is going to be a part of [their talks],” Murrett says, adding Kim has expressed interest in “bringing their economy into the 21st century.”

"These talks have the ability to reduce security tensions in East Asia and present an opportunity for the U.S. to reinforce the strong links with South Korea, Japan and even China," says Robert Murrett, deputy director of the Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism.

"Serbia is still negotiating with the EU to join the group," says Brian Taylor, professor of political science. "But it wouldn’t be surprising if Serbia was trying to keep its options open in terms of East and West.”
