Supreme Court scholar Thomas Keck is a 2019 Carnegie Fellow

Thomas M. Keck, professor of political science and the Michael O. Sawyer Chair of Constitutional Law and Politics at Maxwell, is a leading expert on the Supreme Court, American constitutional development, and the use of legal strategies by movements for social change. The Carnegie Fellows program is the most generous initiative of its kind, awarding researchers in the humanities and social sciences significant time to research, write, and publish.

Four Maxwell students named 2019 Syracuse University Scholars

Dina Eldawy, Crystal Letona, Danielle Schaf and Nathan Shearn were among the twelve seniors named as the 2019 Syracuse University Scholars, the highest undergraduate honor that the University bestows.

Ma wins fellowship from the National Committee on US China Relations

The highly competitive Public Intellectual Program Fellowship provides support for scholars who specialize in China and directly engage with public and policy communities. It has been awarded to Yingyi Ma, associate professor of sociology and director of Syracuse University’s Asian/Asian American Studies program.

Brege awarded Harvard University’s Villa I Tatti Fellowship

Brian Brege, assistant professor of history, has been awarded a Villa I Tatti Fellowship from Harvard University. The fellowship houses scholars for one-year, with full stipend, at the I Tatti Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies in Florence, Italy. Brege will use the fellowship to continue his research on the development of capitalism in Tuscany during the Italian Renaissance.

The Qualitative Data Repository (QDR) has been certified by CoreTrustSeal as a “trusted data repository.” Certification requires rigorous peer review of compliance with best practices in 16 key areas, including organizational infrastructure, continuity of access, preservation, and security.

Klotz to receive 2018 ENMISA Distinguished Scholar Award

The Ethnicity, Nationalism and Migration Studies Section of ISA (ENMISA) Distinguished Scholar Award committee, formed of Dr. Erin Jenne (Central European University), Dr. Suzanne Levi-Sanchez (Rutgers University) and Dr. Sorin Nastasia (Southern Illinois University Edwardsville), has decided after careful consideration of the nominations, to select Dr. Audie Klotz for the award. Klotz was presented with the award at the International Studies Association's annual conference on April 5, 2018.

2017-18 Remembrance Scholars to be honored at Convocation Oct. 27

The 2017-18 Convocation for Remembrance Scholars, honoring 35 outstanding students from this year’s senior class, many of whom are Maxwell scholars, will be held Friday, October 27, at 3 p.m. in Hendricks Chapel. The Remembrance Scholarships, among the most prestigious scholarships awarded by the University, were founded as a tribute to the 270 people, including 35 Syracuse University students studying abroad through Syracuse University, who were killed in the Dec. 21, 1988, bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.
