"Housing policy is education policy,” says Amy Ellen Schwartz, Daniel Patrick Moynihan Chair in Public Affairs. "We want to improve kids’ outcomes — sometimes what we’re going to have to do is look outside of the schoolhouse door and think about housing." Schwartz is the co-author of a new study published in the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management titled "Do Housing Vouchers Improve Academic Performance? Evidence from New York City." The authors found that housing vouchers boost the math and reading scores of New York City public school students. Schwartz discussed the study in the Chalkbeat article "Housing vouchers, like other anti-poverty programs, increase test scores, NYC study shows." 01/07/20
