Safety Science, July 2018
Corri Zoli, research assistant professor of political science, and Peg Hermann, professor of political science and Gerald B. and Daphna Cramer Professor of Global Affairs, published "Terrorist critical infrastructures, organizational capacity and security risk" in the engineering journal Safety Science. The paper is co-authored with Professor Laura J. Steinberg of the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University and Martha Grabowski, an engineering professor at LeMoyne College. The article addresses gaps between studies of terrorism and infrastructure resilience to explore "terrorist critical infrastructures" (TCIs) as one critically missing framework to understand the rise of terrorist political violence globally. This approach to global terrorism maximizes core perspectives common in resilience and safety research and uses comparative analyses from terrorism studies, systems engineering, and infrastructure protection. 07/02/18
