Brandon is a Ph.D. candidate in the Public Administration and International Affairs Department and works in the Center for Policy Research with Professor Peter Wilcoxen. His research focuses on energy policy, particularly local impacts of energy resource transitions in fossil fuel extraction communities and electric utility regulation. He draws on theories regarding environmental economic, the policy process and public finance in developing his research projects.
Current projects analyze the accumulation of municipal debt during the U.S. shale boom, regulatory policymaking at state public utility commissions and state energy policy design. Prior to beginning his graduate study, he worked for more than a decade in the utility industry, including consulting for a variety of public and private sector clients and serving as an expert witness in public utility commission proceedings.
He received an M.A. in public policy from the University of Chicago and an undergraduate degree in economics from Dartmouth College.
