Dong Hoon is from California and received a B.A. in economics from University of California, Berkeley. He then moved to Washington, D.C. to work at the American Institutes for Research (AIR), during which he also received an M.P.P. from McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University.
While working at AIR, he evaluated several student and school targeted programs as a data analyst. Some of the more recent evaluations he participated include, but are not limited to, secondary data analysis of the language development of New Mexico American Indian English Learners, a randomized control trial on the impact of Montessori schools on early education outcomes, and a cost-effectiveness analysis of Kentucky’s Mathematics Achievement Fund grant program.
He is interested in the academic and labor trajectory of English language learners, especially in relation to their socio-economic backgrounds and the conditions of the schools they attend. He will be working with Professor Robert Bifulco.
