Crisis, Change and Continuity in Spanish Politics

In the aftermath of the 2008 international economic crisis, which hit Spain hard starting in 2010, the country has faced deep political and institutional challenges. Bonnie Field’s talk will analyze the patterns of change and continuity related to the party system, governance and territorial politics.

Bonnie Field is Professor of Global Studies at Bentley University. She has a PhD in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research interests center on political parties and political institutions in transitional and institutionalized democracies in Europe and Latin America. She investigates minority governments, parliamentary regimes, inter-party relations in parliament, processes of candidate selection and political appointments, and regime democratization. She has a particular interest in Spanish politics. Lunch will be served.
