Leonard Weinberg ’68 Ph.D. (PSc)
is professor emeritus at the University of Nevada where he previously received two Fulbright research awards and a Harry Guggenheim research grant. Weinberg previously served as a visiting professor at King's College, University of London and at the University of Haifa. He also served as a visiting scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Florence.
Ann Miles ’91 Ph.D. (Anth)
has written a new book titled, “Unraveling Time: Thirty Years of Ethnography in Cuenca, Ecuador” (University of Texas Press, 2022). Miles is a professor of anthropology and director of the Center for the Humanities at Western Michigan University.
Howard Palley ’63 Ph.D. (SSc)
, professor emeritus at the University of Maryland, has published a new book, “The Public/Private Sector Mix in Healthcare Delivery: A Comparative Study” (Oxford University Press, 2022).
Jeffrey Allan ’09 M.S.Sc.
worked a five-year assignment as a political affairs officer for the United Nations based in Iraq. Allan worked in Iraq’s capital of Baghdad in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq, and in the provinces of Diyala and Ninewa.

is the mission director for Afghanistan with the United States Agency for International Development, a government agency focused on international development and humanitarian efforts.
Sean Callahan ’98 M.P.A.
was appointed mission director for Afghanistan for the United States Agency for International Development in August 2022.

became the city manager in Watertown, Mass. in August 2022.
Gregory Barnes ’95 M.P.A.
became the town administrator in Raynham, Mass., in September 2022.
Timothy Maniccia ’92 M.P.A.
is working with Rockefeller College’s Zimbabwe Parliamentary Strengthening Program to teach about the role of legislative fiscal committees in public budgeting and oversight. Maniccia is also the chief fiscal officer and treasurer for the Hudson River-Black Regulating District in Albany, N.Y.
George Dunham ’88 M.P.A.
has been the town manager of Sandwich, Mass. since 1993. In January 2022 Dunham became president of the Massachusetts Municipal Management Association.
Patricia Ferrito ’82 M.P.A.
presented at a workshop titled “Collection, Selection, Objection,” that was offered during an event for New York State public school librarians. Ferrito is the senior policy coordinator of Erie 1 Board of Cooperative Education Services.

became planning director for the city of Erie, Pa. in September 2022.
Naoki Fujii ’03 M.A. (PA)
was appointed principal vice minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in Tokyo, Japan, in June 2022.
Leo Kanawada ’65 M.A. (Hist)
has published a book, “Captain, Infantry: A Vietnam Memoir” (AuthorHouse, 2022). Kanawada taught in the Hicksville Public Schools in Hicksville, N.Y., for 30 years.
Andrew Schwab ’03 B.A. (Hist/PSt)
has been vice president and head of government affairs at Oak Street Health since September 2021. Oak Street Health is a national network of primary care health centers for adults on Medicare.
David Mahmoud Farhat ’99 B.A. (PPhil)
is a tax partner in the Washington, D.C., office of the New York City-based law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom LLP.
Kristin Dady ’94 B.A. (IR/PSc)
has served as senior advisor for the International Organization for Migration in the Philippines since February 2018. Previously, Dady served as the senior program manager for the International Organization for Migration in Cambodia.
John Bachman ’88 B.A. (Econ)
serves as the senior vice president of human resources and chief people officer at Translational Genomics Research Institute, a biotech and genomic research institute based in Phoenix, Ariz.
John Bass ’86 B.A. (IR)
was confirmed by the United States Senate in December 2021 as the U.S. undersecretary for management. He served as senior advisor at the Foreign Service Institute from 2020-21, U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan from 2017-20, U.S. ambassador to Turkey from 2014-17, executive secretary of the State Department from 2012-14 and U.S. ambassador to Georgia from 2009-12.
Carla Freedman ’85 B.A. (PSc)
was appointed United States attorney for the Northern District of New York in August 2021. Freedman was nominated by President Biden and confirmed by the Senate in October 2021. She is the first woman confirmed for this position.
