Couple’s Gift Seeks to Ease the Burden of First-Generation Students

Kenneth ’80 and Mindy Sosne ’81 have pledged $100,000 to establish an endowed scholarship at their alma mater. The Kenneth and Mindy Sosne Scholarship will be awarded to first-generation students at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. “We’ve made a path for ourselves, professionally and financially, and now we want to give back,” says Mindy. “We want to make others’ lives easier.”

Alumnus’s undergraduate scholarship gift serves as Mother’s Day honor

A bequest arrangement made by Maxwell School alumnus Jonathan R. Hancock ’95 MA (Geog) will honor his mother while providing scholarship assistance to undergraduates in select Maxwell disciplines, who demonstrate an interest in bettering the Syracuse and Central New York region. The bequest commitment, originally formalized on Mother’s Day 2019, is being announced to highlight this year’s occasion of that holiday.

Baldanza gift supports undergraduate research

A $125,000 challenge gift from Ben and Marcia Baldanza will help underwrite undergraduate research and scholarship at the Maxwell School. The Baldanza Endowment for Undergraduate Excellence will meet expenses associated with undergraduate research and experiential learning. It will help fund Maxwell’s annual Celebration of Undergraduate Scholarship, an event held near the end of each academic year to share and reward undergraduate research projects.
