On Monday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order suspending the entry of foreign workers seeking H-1B, J and L visas through year’s end. The order says such visa holders are a "significant threat to employment opportunities for Americans" affected by Covid-19. Yingyi Ma, associate professor of sociology and author of Ambitious and Anxious: How Chinese Undergraduates Succeed and Struggle in American Higher Education, tells Politico the move "seriously undermines American leadership in fields such as technology and medicine where skilled immigrants serve as the backbone." 06/25/20
