New Maxwell Perspective features climate change research

August 6, 2019

Perspective Mag Summer 2019The recently published edition of Maxwell Perspective — the School’s twice-annual magazine for alumni, students, faculty, staff, and other friends — is now available online. All full-length articles are available as individual webpages in the Maxwell Perspective section of this website.

The cover story provides a near-total audit of the many ways that professors and students at the School are attempting to understand and combat climate change, ranging from government-policy approaches to reducing industrial pollution to societal studies of the impacts of flooding and wildfires. Also included are individual stories about Maxwell’s environmental policy institute, coursework that addresses environment and sustainability, and a quick rundown of the many ways that Syracuse University prioritizes this category of research.

Also in the spring edition is a profile of alumna Donna Shalala, recently elected U.S. representative from Florida; a description of the new, Maxwell-based Autonomous Systems Policy Institute and the issues it will tackle; news about the public administration program’s new emphasis in data analysis; coverage of the “slow archaeology” conference hosted this spring by Anthropology; announcement of the Bill Coplin Scholarship Fund; and various student and alumni profiles.
