The Maxwell School alumnus became the first Black president of the Student Government Association and helped form the Black Student Union.

Maxwell Partners with Newhouse to Launch Institute for Democracy, Journalism and Citizenship in DC
A joint initiative of the Newhouse and Maxwell schools, the institute will promote nonpartisan, evidence-based research and dialogue in the public interest and support the work of faculty and students.

University website features the history of Maxwell’s VIP visitors
As part of its ongoing initiative to highlight historical content during SU’s 150th anniversary year, the Syracuse University website now includes a report on well-known figures from politics and public life who have visited and spoken at the Maxwell School.

95-Year-Old Maxwell School Welcomes its First Freshman Class
Beginning this fall, for the first time ever, students planning to major in the social sciences applied and were admitted directly to the Maxwell School. Prior to this, students applied to A&S, and they became a Maxwell student only if they declared a Maxwell major, usually sometime around the end of their sophomore year.
