The People Who Built the Pyramids—How We Know


Director and president of Ancient Egypt Research Associates, Inc., Mark Lehner has conducted more than forty years of archaeological research in Egypt. His work includes mapping the Great Sphinx and discovering a major part of the ‘Lost City of the Pyramids’ at Giza.

Lehner currently directs the Giza Plateau Mapping Project, leading an interdisciplinary and international team of archaeologists, geochronologists, botanists and faunal specialists who conduct annual excavations of Old Kingdom settlements near the Sphinx and Pyramids.

A Canadian Perspective on Public Service: From Following to Leading


From the hallowed halls of the Canadian Parliament to outer space, the Honourable Marc Garneau has had a remarkable journey in public service over five decades that began in the Royal Canadian Navy and culminated as a member of the Trudeau Cabinet as Minister of Transport and later as Minister of Foreign Affairs from a seat in Parliament for Notre-Dame-de-Grace-Westmont in Montreal, Quebec. During his path of service, he was selected to the first class of the Canadian Astronaut Corps and the first Canadian to fly aboard the space shuttle. Now retired from his experiences as a participant in an array of global changes over a half century.
