Bio

Robert Terrell is a historian of modern Germany and Europe. His first book project, "The People’s Drink: A Bottom-Fermented History of Modern Germany" reveals how brewers, regulators, and cultural intermediaries in Bavaria shaped both the structures and discourses of the German nation. His second project examines connections between the Weimar Republic and the post-Ottoman Middle East. He is co-organizer of the Central New York Humanities Corridor working group Research and Narrative in Modern European History. 

Areas of Expertise

Modern Germany and Europe, commodity and food history, global and transnational history, the history of Islam and Muslims in Europe.
