Center for European Studies


The Center for European Studies promotes interdisciplinary research and study of Europe and advances the study of European politics, history, economy, culture and languages in collaboration with academic programs, professional schools, language programs and research centers across campus and Syracuse University's study abroad centers.

Central Asia and the Caucasus Research Group


As a research network, Syracuse University's Central Asia and the Caucasus (CAC) Research Group supports active collaboration across disciplines within the Maxwell School and the broader Syracuse community.

CAC unites graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and professionals from Central Asia and the Caucasus, as well as other researchers working in the region.

East Asia Program


The East Asia Program provides an intellectual home for students and faculty interested in the study of East Asia. It supports and facilitates multidisciplinary research and dialogue on the history, economy, politics and social development of the region, especially China, Japan and the two Koreas, and on the relations of the United States with the region.

The Maxwell African Scholars Union promotes the scientific study of African societies and the continental African experience in the globalized world. Middle Eastern Studies Program


Syracuse University’s relationship with the Middle East extends back more than 60 years and spans many disciplines—from public administration and media studies to literature and religion.

Today, the University's Middle Eastern Studies Program provides an array of opportunities for faculty and students to learn about and visit this extraordinary region.

Program on Latin America and the Caribbean


Syracuse University's Program on Latin America and the Caribbean promotes excellence in multi-disciplinary scholarship focused on Latin America and the Caribbean and connects the Syracuse University and SUNY-Environmental Science and Forestry communities with students, scholars, artists, writers and activists from the region.

South Asia Center


Syracuse University's South Asia Center supports teaching and research on the South Asian region: the nations of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Culture and Conversation Tables

As informal meetings where members of the Syracuse University community engage in dialogue and share the culture and customs of each country, Culture and Conversation Tables are hosted by our regional centers and meet regularly in the Maxwell School's Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs.
